Juste Nyirimana

Co-op Master’s, Class of 2018-2020

Juste has interest in improving the lives of the disadvantaged of the society. In September 2018 – February 2020, together with other Mastercard Foundation Scholars, he raised funds to buy various necessities for children and young girls who have been victims of violence and rape. Juste has worked as a data scientist in financial institutions including banks and a revenue collecting institution. Currently, he is a Data Scientist at the National Bank of Rwanda (BNR) since September 2020. He is charged with the responsibility of: developing and automating data cleansing measures, analyzing and forecasting economic patterns/trends, establishing and maintaining effective processes for validating and updating predictive models, and building dashboards that get deployed in the form of products, policy, or scientific research. Prior to joining BNR, Juste served as a Data Scientist at the Bank of Kigali (BK) from June to August 2020. Working with data at BK, He identified data trends, provided actionable insights, and measure performance. On BK’s loan products, he simplified the scorecards making them intuitive, unbiased and easy to understand. He then built informative dashboards to govern BK’s operations. Additionally, Juste is a Zindi Ambassador in Rwanda. Zindi connects organizations with African data scientists to help in solving pressing problems using Artificial Intelligence. Juste runs hackathons, workshops and meet-ups to promote data science in Rwanda.

Juste Nyirimana is an alumnus of AIMS Rwanda Centre in the class of 2018-2020. He graduated with MSc. in Mathematical Sciences. He holds a BSc. In actuarial science from the Millikin University, Illinois, USA 2014-2017.
