After six months of intensive training, 41 sector professionals from various Rwandan government institutions were awarded certificates after their training in the Data Science Capacity Building Initiative (DSCBI), marking a
significant step forward in strengthening Rwanda’s National Statistical System. Implemented in partnership with the National Institute of Statistics of Rwanda and Cenfri, the graduates leave the program equipped with practical data science skills and the confidence to apply them in their daily work,
already contributing to evidence based decision making across institutions. The ceremony was enriched by powerful reflections from leaders and partners, including Yves Iradukunda, Minister of State at the Ministry of ICT and Innovation, Ntwali Ivan, Country Director at the Mastercard Foundation, Dr. D.Sc. Abebe Geletu, German Research Chair at AIMS Rwanda, Hennie Bester, Programme Director at Cenfri, David NUSI of NISR, and Dr. Charles Lebon Mberi Kimpolo, Director of AIMS Industry Initiative and Future of Science Forum (FSF). Their remarks underscored the critical role of data science and Al in shaping Rwanda’s future.
